Komodo liveaboard diving is not a new idea but it's becoming better known and more popular in the last few years generally due to the awesome diving to be had, you never see anyone else underwater and there is something for everyone. One day you can be crawling along the bottom looking at pygmy seahorses, frogfish and unusual nudibranch and the next you are in the big blue on an open water pinnacle as the mantas glide by, the sharks circle and the dolphins fly past..

Komodo is one of the few places left in the world where sharks are not rare. Komodo island is one of the places where manta rays have their legendary aggregations, meaning they are here in the area in their hundreds!!!
Starting from Bali your first diving is done on the small islands north of Sumbawa island. We then dive and drive our way towards Komodo experiencing the best of the Lesser Sunda islands.(Komodo photos)

Mermaid liveaboards run a weekly trip from Bali to Komodo starting and ending on a Saturday. (Schedule - Itinerary)
I can personally vouch for the high standards of safety, comfort and diving on these trips as for the last 3 years I have been working on both Mermaid 1 and Mermaid 2 full time as their photo professional.


Also during the trip you have the chance to walk with the lengendary Komodo dragons. These truly awesome beasts reach 3 metres plus and can reportedly run at 20km an hour, something I am not willing to put to the test. It's the icing on the cake, Stunning diving and one of the worlds last surviving dinosaur descendants.
